How to Start a Brick by Brick Chapter
Building Team America — one brick at a time.
You don't need a political background. You don't need a budget. You don't need permission from anyone.
You need three things: a belief that this country belongs to its people, a willingness to work alongside someone who sees things differently, and the courage to show up.
If you have those three things, you can start a Brick by Brick chapter. And we will be right there with you — because we are in this to win.
Democracy is a local sport. The decisions that affect your daily life — your water, your roads, your schools, your community — are made closest to home. Yet local government has the lowest voter turnout, the least civic engagement, and the most room for corruption to take hold unnoticed.
A Brick by Brick chapter changes that. It creates a permanent, nonpartisan civic presence in your community — a team of Americans who have pledged to stay informed, stay engaged, and hold their elected officials accountable regardless of party.
Every chapter is a brick. Together, we build something that cannot be bought, cannot be spun, and cannot be stopped.
Every Brick by Brick chapter must have bipartisan co-leadership. That means one chapter leader from each side of the aisle. This is not optional. It is the DNA of everything we do.
We are a team. A team does not win by fielding players from only one side. Your chapter represents the whole community — conservatives and liberals, Republicans and Democrats, and everyone in between who is tired of being told the other half of America is the enemy.
Your First Act of Building Team America
Your first task as a founder is to find your co-lead from the other side. Not someone who agrees with you on everything. Someone who disagrees with you on plenty — but who loves this country and believes in the mission. That conversation, right there, is your first act of building Team America.
Think about your community. Who do you know on the other side of the aisle who cares deeply about this country even if you don't always agree? Reach out. Have an honest conversation. Show them this guide. Invite them to build something together. You only need one person to start.
Three to five people is all you need to launch. Keep it small and intentional at first. Look for people who are:
- Frustrated with division but still hopeful
- Willing to learn before they conclude
- Ready to treat a teammate from the other side with respect
- Committed to showing up consistently, not just when it's convenient
Contact Brick by Brick national at brickxbrick.us to register your chapter. When you do, a member of the BxB team will reach out to you directly — by phone — to welcome you, answer your questions, and make sure you have everything you need to succeed. We will meet with you in person when geography and circumstance allow.
We are not a national organization that hands you a manual and wishes you well. We are your partner. We are in this to win.
Your first town hall doesn't need to be big. A library meeting room, a community center, a church fellowship hall, a neighbor's living room. What matters is that it happens, that both co-leads are present, and that the conversation is guided by the BxB principles:
- No party politics at the table — issues only
- Education first — learn the facts before forming opinions
- Every voice heard — no shouting, no dismissing
- We are a team — treat every person in the room as a teammate
At your first town hall, invite every attendee to sign the Brick by Brick Citizens Pledge. This is the moment your chapter comes to life — a room full of Americans from different backgrounds making the same commitment to each other and to their community. Aim to leave your first meeting with at least five signed pledges. Then grow from there.
When you start a BxB chapter, you are not alone. Here is what you can count on from us:
- A personal phone call from the BxB team to welcome you and answer your questions
- In-person support when geography and circumstances allow — we show up for our chapters
- Branded materials including the Citizens Pledge, Candidate Oath, and town hall guides
- Connection to other chapters across the country so you can learn from and support fellow teammates
- Ongoing guidance on how to engage local elected officials, organize town halls, and grow your chapter
- A national platform that amplifies your local work and connects it to the broader Team America mission
Every BxB chapter operates by the same principles. These are not suggestions. They are what makes us a team:
- No party politics at chapter meetings. We discuss issues, not parties. We solve problems, not score points.
- Education before opinion. We do not assume. We learn the facts first, then form our views.
- Respect is non-negotiable. Every person in the room is a teammate. Disagreement is welcome. Contempt is not.
- We are a team. Say it. Mean it. Act like it. We are Team America and we are in this together.
- Show up consistently. Democracy requires citizens who stay engaged, not just those who show up when it's easy.
